Millinery Australia’s Design Award showcases innovative design and high-quality millinery skills. The theme for the competition was Counter Balance. I decided to enter for the first time this year but found the theme to be quite challenging…
I took inspiration from counterbalanced stone stacks.

Here is the final result… the larger lower discs and pearls counterbalance the weight of the upper discs to create a structure that defies gravity. I also used the relationship of counterbalance in yin and yang in my design to counterbalance the light and dark colour theme.
